Bilateral Sphenopalatine Ganglion Block for the Treatment of Post Dural Puncture Headache: A Case Report

چکیده

Background: Post dural puncture headache (PDPH) is a known and potentially debilitating complication of neuraxial anesthesia that can impede patient recovery. The conventional treatment includes hydration symptomatic like simple analgesics. Those who have unremitting symptoms following conservative measures are offered an epidural blood patch (EBP). However, EBP, invasive procedure, associated with complications in itself. Case: We report 40-year-old man experienced PDPH after spinal anesthesia. His recurred management was instituted. He then trans-nasal sphenopalatine ganglion (SPG) block. had excellent pain relief did not require EBP. Conclusion: SPG blocks be considered early the together general supportive measures. if achieved, should still considered.

[Ropivacaine use in transnasal sphenopalatine ganglion block for post dural puncture headache in obstetric patients - case series].

PURPOSE Sphenopalatine ganglion block is widely accepted in chronic pain; however it has been underestimated in post dural puncture headache treatment. The ganglion block does not restore normal cerebrospinal fluid dynamics but effectively reduces symptoms associated with resultant hypotension. When correctly applied it may avoid performance of epidural blood patch. The transnasal approach is a...

Ultrasound-guided bilateral greater occipital nerve block for the treatment of post-dural puncture headache

Treatment of postdural puncture headaches involves oral or intravenous (IV) fluid or caffeine-containing analgesics, micro-catheterization of spinal space, epidural administration of blood obtained from the patient, or epidural blood patch and fiberoptic imaging-guided epidural interventional techniques. Epidural blood patch is, to date, the most effective treatment, but it is an invasive proce...

In this letter, we want to mention another simple technique that can be performed at the bedside or in the outpatient department and is effective at relieving PDPH. The procedure is known as transn...
